In May

Forests, Mountains, Deserts

Andrew Muenzfeld

I enjoy traveling to places that I’ve not been before or haven’t visited in a long time. This exhibit includes a sampling of some of my favorite photographs from trips over the past 2 years.

It begins with a 2022 summer trip to Arizona that included Petrified Forest National Park and the White Mountains in the eastern part of the State. July in Arizona is delightful at 8,000 feet. In November 2022, I traveled to Texas, hiking in Guadelupe Mountains National Park which sits along the Texas-New Mexico border and then in Big Bend National Park, which lies in the middle of nowhere along the Texas border with Mexico. Autumn is a great time to visit those locales, with cooling temperatures and some good color in the foliage.

In 2023, I made two trips to the Blue Ridge Parkway in North Carolina, with the first in May to view the soft greens of early spring and the second in October for the autumn colors and dramatic skies. Between those trips, I traveled in late June to Olympic National Park in Washington to hike in the coastal rain forests.

These days most photographs remain in digital format, shared online or sent between phones.

I prefer framed prints over the numerous other display options available, and I do all my own framing using older frames that I refurbish.

Given that approach, I greatly appreciate the Arts Council providing me with opportunities to display my photographs. As a way of saying “Thank you,” all proceeds from this exhibit will go directly to the Arts Council.

Thank you for visiting the exhibit. I hope you enjoy the images.
