Amilia K Spicer
Spicer is an award winning Singer/Songwriter and Visual Artist, celebrated by the Los Angeles Music Awards for Best Americana Artist and Album, and The DIY Music Awards for Artist and Producer of the Year. Her most recent CD, “Wow and Flutter”, was named one of the best records, any genre, in the last decade (PopDose Magazine). She’s been featured on NPR’s “Now Hear This”, has performed at the Kennedy Center, and clubs/ festivals all over the country. Music Connection Magazine says of Spicer, “Mesmerizing”.
In April of this year, her photography show “Reimagination”, was featured in LA’s San Pedro gallery, Collage, as part of the Open Arts Festival. She now brings some of these pieces to the Arts Council on June 6, an event shared with her sister, Wendy Heiges.
Rooted in the natural world, Spicer’s manipulated photography features vivid colors, layered textures, and subtle distortions, creating an almost hallucinatory effect. Pennsylvania farmlands, Tibetan mountaintops, California deserts are among the places that explore nature as both place and portal. Spicer’s music and her photography live in the space between grit and stillness- cinematic, weathered, and a little haunted. They trace the hidden contours of both land and longing, where every shadow suggests a story of wanderlust, and every turn feels like a secret.
