In this relaxed upbeat workshop you will learn how to see beyond the obvious within the landscape or (subject of your choice), and use expressive color to capture the essence of mood and atmosphere in sky, water, and more. Whether you work in pastel, oil, watercolor or the acrylic medium, you will learn to see the depth of color and create a unique and personally expressive painting. Susan is skilled in all mediums but will focus her demonstrations in this 2-Day workshop on pastel and oil painting, using watercolor and acrylic as underpaintings.

Susan is a seasoned plein air and studio painter that will lead you to your personal color expression in the medium of your choice. Each day will begin with a short demonstration focusing on methods that will aid in color expression. The use of underpainting and color mixing will be explored in both pastel and oil. “Thumbnail Sketches” and their importance in supporting strong compositions and values within color, will help you “Target Focus” on what inspires you in the landscape or subject of your choice. There will be personal time at your easel following the morning demo, with support and attention given at each artist’s easel.
