Louise Garverick

ARTIST STATEMENT
A lifelong resident of Adams County, Louise earned her BS in Art Education from Edinboro State College and has done postgraduate work at Kutztown University, Shippensburg University, Wilkes University, Pennsylvania State University, University of Connecticut, and University of Texas. She holds a Masters Equivalency from the State of Pennsylvania.

She was honored with the Pennsylvania Art Educators State Elementary Art Educator of the Year Award in 1992, the Delta Kappa Gamma International Leadership/Management Seminar in 1992, the Pennsylvania State Achievement Award from Delta Kappa Gamma International in 2007, and the PASR Lauretta Woodson Award in 2007. She is listed in the Marquis Who’s Who in American Education.

Having studied with Zoltan Szabo and Mimi Shapiro, Louise has exhibited her watercolors at the Kauffman Gallery at Shippensburg University, the Bogigian Gallery at Wilson College, the Schuster Gallery at Gannon College, Gallery 30 in Gettysburg, and in juried shows through the Adams County Arts Council. Her works are in private collections.

She is currently experimenting with a unique approach to collage. Many of her recent works on paper include watercolor, natural and found items with the unexpected addition of embroidery stitching, bead work, and appliqué.
