Linda Toki
Linda is the Visual Information Specialist and photographer at the Farm Credit Administration in McLean, Virginia. She provides graphic design support, photographic, and video services to the agency. She is also responsible for creating content and visuals for FCA’s social media platforms.
Linda has received numerous awards for her publication designs through her job and outside for her photography. Linda was awarded this past year with the FCA’s Diversity Leadership award for promoting and supporting the agency’s diversity and inclusion programs. In 2016, Linda won second place for photography in the Gettysburg Area Historical Barn Art Show and Sale. In 2015 she was interviewed for a feature in the AppWhisperer online publication for her work in iPhone photography. In 2014, she and her sister published a book of poetry and photography entitled “Only Black is in Style, Fashionably Dark Verse.” Later that year she held a solo exhibit in New Oxford, Pennsylvania. In February 2013 Linda won Second Place in the Garden Creatures Category and an Honorable Mention in the Small Wonders Category sponsored by Washington Gardener Magazine and she won two Honorable Mentions at the Friends of Claude Moore Photo Expo. In 2007, she won two Silver Awards sponsored by Create magazine in the Nature Photography division. She has been published in Grit’s Guide to Backyard Rabbits, the Meadowlark Botanical Garden 2013 brochure, the Atrium at Meadowlark 2013 brochure, and the Meadowlark website. She has exhibited at Arlington County Public Library and Above Ground Winery in Purcellville, Virginia. She won a 2012 CFC Award in the Small Agency category “Best Photography and Use of Images, and 2011 Award of Distinction for the FCA website design from the Communicator Awards competition. She also received “Hero of the Year” award given by the Combined Federal Campaign of the National Capital Area for her support of campaign activities at her workplace.
An honors graduate from the Indiana University of Pennsylvania, she has a BS degree in Education with a major in Art and a minor in Art history. Linda is certified to teach art, K-12. While Linda has spent nearly 30 years working in Northern Virginia, she currently resides full time in Gettysburg.
For several years, Linda was an assistant to William B. Folsom, the resident photographer at Meadowlark Gardens in Vienna in his photography classes and workshops. She volunteered as a TV camera operator with Fairfax Public Access TV and has been certified as a production assistant. She has worked on Dr. Libby’s World of Medicine: filming, providing photographic support and graphic design. She has also worked for Special Olympics of Virginia as an event planner and photographer.
A year ago, Linda established the first Gettysburg Camera Club on FaceBook. Several meet-ups have happened over the year and more are planned. She is passionate about iPhone/Mobile art and photography. She has taught DSLR photography classes in Virginia at Meadowlark Gardens and most recently mobile photography at Adams County Arts Council in Gettysburg, PA.
Linda has always been an avid photographer growing up in the mountains of Western Pennsylvania in Cambria County. Her fondness for nature is reflected in her work.
Linda also pursues gardening and is certified as a Monarch waystation, she is interested in genealogy, language study, and cake decorating.
