About Phil:

Phil is a Fairfield, PA resident for over 30 years.  He grew up in Valley Stream, NY and  graduated from The Citadel and later earned an MPA degree from the University of Colorado.  Prior to moving to Fairfield, Pennsylvania, Phil lived in Germany and Colorado.  While in the army Phil had the opportunity to travel extensively throughout Europe which helped to stimulate his interest in photography.  Photographing scenic and historic landscapes, and nature soon became his passion.  Later he also began to write poetry and has put together several copyrighted collections of poetry.  In 2003, inspired by the Irish Brigade monument at the Gettysburg Battlefield, he composed the poem “The Irish Brigade” and merged his two avocations of poetry and photography.   Phil’s photographs can be found at several area businesses, ACAC art exhibits, Destination Arts in Waynesboro, PA and numerous Irish and Celtic festivals throughout Maryland and Pennsylvania.  Phil also maintains an online website at www.gallowglassprints.com where his photos can be viewed and purchased.

Artist Statement:

What I enjoy most about photography are the endless opportunities provided to the photographer to capture a beautiful scene, to document a special moment,  to create a mood with images be it whimsical, dramatic, or inspiring,  and to share these experiences with others.

Phil is a member of the Adams County Arts Council, Antietam Photographic Society, The Gettysburg Poetry Society and the Pennsylvania Poetry Society.
