Invest in Your Happy Place: Take a Class at the ACAC’s Arts Education Center! 

Spend a summer evening in a happy place by learning something new at the Arts Education Center.  We have a variety of classes that will recharge your creative spirit in a friendly and professional setting. Here is a sampling of what’s coming up: 

 

Sea Glass & Shells Picture: Make a Seahorse or Turtle, Tuesday, July 18, 6-7:30 p.m. 

Enjoy assembling shells and sea glass framed picture using shells, crushed sea glass, starfish, sand dollars and other embellishments that are provided by the instructor. Feel free to bring in your own special shells that you have collected to adorn your picture. Sandy Hurtack, $42 ($46 nonmember) 

 

Fused Glass Coaster Set, Monday, July 24, 6-8 p.m. 

Each student will make 4 square coasters approximately 3.75 inches each.  The coasters will be clear with colored pieces of glass (Confetti like) sandwiched between the 2 layers of glass. Linn Wichowski, $48.50 ($52.50 nonmember) 

 

Beginning Couples Dance, Mondays, August 7-28, 6-7 p.m. 

Join World Champion dancer and instructor, Dawn Garrish, and learn how to dance to many styles of music. Learn basic partnering skills and develop your confidence with a variety of beats and timings.  This class is good for the REAL beginner.  Dawn Garrish, $120 ($132 nonmember) a couple 

 

Couples Dance 2, Mondays, August 7-28, 7-8 p.m. 

Join World Champion dancer and instructor, Dawn Garrish, for this next step couples dance class.  If you already have a bit of experience or have taken her first class, this is a great fit for you. Dawn will help you develop your skills, confidence, and enjoyment on the dance floor.  Dawn Garrish, $120 ($132 nonmember) a couple 

 

Summer Barre & Stretch, Tuesdays, August 15-September 26, 10-11 a.m. 

Tone and lengthen muscles during our barre portion that will work on building upper body strength, target thighs, seat, back, and abdominals.  Pulling from classical ballet principles each muscle group will be worked through high repetition using a small range of motion, then alternately stretched to lengthen the muscles.  While muscles are still warm, we will focus on a gentle and restorative deep stretching that will aid in increasing your range of motion and mobility.  All levels welcome. Introduction to Finger Lakes White Wines, Thursday, August 17, 6-8 p.m. 

Join Wine Enthusiast, Walter Wagner, as he introduces a selection of six of his favorite Finger Lakes white wines.  He will compare dry and semi-dry Rieslings and a hand-selected selection of additional types as you delight in the similarity between them, as well as the unique qualities they possess. Light food pairings will be served to complement the wine selection.  Walter Wagner, $60 ($65 nonmember) 

 

Paint & Wine Night: Sunflowers, Tuesday, August 22, 5:30-8:00 p.m. 

Think you can’t paint?  Oh, but you can under the expert instruction of Instructor, Anita Williams!  She will guide you step by step through the process of how to paint your very own version of Vincent Van Gogh’s Sunflower painting.  No experience needed.  Enjoy this group instructed painting experience while sipping a glass of wine.  You will be amazed at your results!  Anita Williams, $36 ($40)
