The Art of Plein Air with the Susquehanna Valley Plein Air Painters

Discover the art of plein air painting and explore the work of the Susquehanna Valley Plein Air Painters, a group of artists dedicated to capturing the beauty of the region’s landscapes, historic towns, rivers, and countryside through outdoor painting. Plein air, a French term meaning “open air,” allows artists to paint directly from nature, observing changing light, color, and atmosphere in real time. The Susquehanna Valley Plein Air Painters members Jean Fry, Karen Karkuff and Wendy Warner will take you through the history of Plein Air painting, talk about what the group does and then a will finish off the talk with a live painting demo to show the process of plein air and answer any questions you may have.
