Sicilian arancini are a popular Italian dish of cooled risotto, mozzarella cheese and ragu, coated with breadcrumbs. The filling of Arancini is typically made with a mixture of ingredients such as: – Risotto: Cooked with Arborio rice, white wine, and stock, then cooled and mixed with other ingredients. – Mozzarella cheese: Shredded or sliced, adds creaminess and flavor. – Meat sauce: Made with ground beef or pork, tomatoes, onions, garlic, and herbs, adds flavor and moisture. – Peas: Fresh or frozen, adds sweetness and texture. – Parmesan cheese: Grated, adds salty, nutty flavor. – Herbs: Such as parsley, basil, or oregano, adds freshness and flavor. – Spices: Such as salt, pepper, and nutmeg, adds depth and warmth. The filling is mixed together and then stuffed into the center of the Arancini, which is made from a ball of risotto that has been shaped and coated in breadcrumbs. The Arancini is then deep-fried until crispy and golden brown, creating a crunchy exterior and a creamy, savory interior.
